Momentum to Independent cinema is what Indian Cine Film Festival-14 believes and to meet the expectation the festival has screened 70+ shorts & features at three screen venue in Mumbai today. The galaxy from filmmakers from India, USA, Israel & Botswana gather to celebrate the excellence of independent cinema. The ICFF networking & screenings was attended by more than 80 filmmakers and professionals along with audience.
For my daughter directed by Hakan Haksun from Turkey won best feature film & best actress award. Chinese movie I sell love directed by Kevin Chu won best feature film jury award. MAAZII directed by Jaideep Chopra won special mention in feature category. In short films category Swedish movie När tårarna fallitdirected by Henrik Henziger won best film award while Indian short film Boom directed by Kumar Mystic won Best Film Jury award. In documentaries The Mural directed by Fran Guijarro from USA won best film, Indian documentary Surfing Yogis directed by Jaya Mishra won best film jury along with movie Where is Elle-Kari and what happened to Noriko-san? directed by dvorit shargal from Israel won best film jury award. In animation Chinese movie Kung food directed Sun Haipeng won best film and in music video category Mirror directed by Spookie Daly from USA won best video award.
The veteran filmmaker G.L Bhardwaj received lifetime achievement award for his contribution in documentary & short cinema. Film producer Bhargav Saikia, renowned filmmaker Kailash Surendranath and writer & director Subodh Chopra were present as guest of honor.
Israeli filmmaker Dvorit Shargal expresses great immense on visiting India and attending ICFF-14. USA based filmmaker Saiful Aziman Mazlan feels that ICFF-14 has boosted his morale as filmmaker and he thanks for the recognition what he gets from ICFF-14.
The master classes on film funding and short films marketing, promotion, distribution and revenue generation was conducted by festival director Rambhul Singh. He feels in today rapidly changing film market it’s very important for upcoming filmmakers to learn the craft of marketing & distribution as it’s equally important as making the films.
