Water does not remember civilizations. Civilizations depend on water. A civilization rose—and collapsed—according to how it managed water. Through the remains of the Angkor empire and contemporary life, the film weaves past and present into a reflection on how water management systems shape the survival, organization and fragility of human societies. Using a combination of photographic imagery and observational footage, it explores the delicate balance between landscape, infrastructure, memory and survival.
