In India, a country in the throes of a human-wildlife conflict crisis, an anomaly exists in the villages of the Charotar region in Gujarat. Here, people live peacefully alongside India’s largest freshwater predators, marsh crocodiles, locally called muggers. With less than 10 attacks in the last 10 years, what makes Charotar’s complex case of coexistence possible? Phir Bhi follows the crocodile-friendly people of Charotar to understand their deep tolerance for their reptilian neighbours and what threatens this fragile balance. At its heart, it’s not just a story of crocodiles living in unusual places but a reminder of our interconnectedness with the ecosystems we inhabit and the power of community to make a big difference to our shared future with wildlife.
