The documentary traces a journey that begins with the 1856 discovery in Germany’s Neander Valley, which first revealed the existence of Neanderthals, and continues to Krapina, Croatia — one of the world’s most important prehistoric sites, where over 900 fossils were uncovered. At the center is the mysterious Skull C, more than 130,000 years old, marked by 35 unusual cut traces that raise questions about violence, ritual, and symbolic thought. Through scientific analysis, reconstructions of Ice Age life, and insights from modern genetics, the film challenges stereotypes of Neanderthals as primitive beings. It ultimately reveals a profound truth: Neanderthals never fully disappeared — their DNA still lives within us, reshaping our understanding of human identity and evolution.
