Aarav arrives in Agra for his grandfather's first death anniversary, a stranger in his grandparents' home. His grandmother intimidates him, so he keeps his distance, never guessing she has longed for him for six years. Then he notices her murmuring to an empty chair, pouring two cups of tea. She isn't strange, he realises. She is grieving, still living beside the man she loved. One evening, they are left alone. Her stories pour out: shy courtship, small quarrels, a lifetime of devotion. For the first time, Aarav understands love. That night, she holds him close, and they fall asleep. By morning, a warm stillness fills the cold house. She has gone to join her husband.
