After the death of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s first wife, Ramabai, his health declined as his workload grew heavier. He needed someone to care for his food, health, and medication. During his medical treatment, he met Dr. Sharda Kabir, whose compassion and understanding made him feel she would be a suitable life partner. He later married her. Dr. Sharda Kabir, later known as Maisaheb Savita Ambedkar, devoted herself to his care for nine years until his death. Afterward, false rumours accused her of poisoning him, forcing her into seclusion for 15 years. With Dalit Panther support, she re-entered public life, joining major social and Buddhist movements until her death while continuing Babasaheb’s mission.
