Surjabala, an NMEO consultant, arrives in a remote northeastern village to assess palm oil cultivation feasibility. A proud Manipuri, her connection to the state is deep. Welcomed by her caretaker Nando and influential local Taibungo, her progressive ideas inspire Nando but threaten Taibungo’s business interests tied to palm plantations. Surjabala’s honest conversations with villagers spark awareness, unsettling Taibungo, who fuels conspiracies to turn them against her. As fear and prejudice take hold, tensions escalate, pushing the community toward drastic action. When the villagers confront Surjabala, an unexpected revelation about the environmental and social cost of palm cultivation shifts their perspective, forcing them to reevaluate their choices and Taibungo’s intentions.
