Bawli — A Wild Wish, A Monstrous Consequence

Bawli is a bold and bizarre sci-fi, dark comedy-horror born from the absurdity of today’s image- obsessed culture. The film follows Charan — a vain, gym-addicted young man whose reckless wish for a bigger behind comes true in the most catastrophic way imaginable. A monstrous, ass- shaped creature known as Bawli rises and begins devouring the city, forcing Charan into a surreal, high-stakes fight against the literal manifestation of his insecurities.

The film blends sharp satire, body-horror and Indian folklore to question what happens when private desires become public disasters. At its heart, Bawli is a cautionary fable about self- worth, ego, and the dangerous chase for approval in a performative world.

Written, directed, shot, edited and designed by Gaurav R Juyal, the film was created under extreme indie conditions — a micro-budget, a three-person production crew, and limited equipment. Despite these constraints, Bawli pushes visual boundaries with ambitious VFX and practical effects that took almost a year to complete. The team embraced creative problem- solving at every step, turning resourcefulness into a driving artistic force.

The cast features passionate emerging actors who fearlessly dove into the film’s physical humor and emotional chaos. Each performance brings authenticity to a story that is both ridiculous and surprisingly relatable.

Bawli represents a filmmaking journey powered by belief — belief in a crazy idea, belief in the collaborative spirit, and belief that genre cinema in India can be daring, weird and globally appealing. This film is for audiences who love to laugh, squirm, and think about the larger-than- life consequences of our smallest wishes.

Welcome to the madness. Welcome to Bawli.
