Onko Ki Kothin – Unequal Equations

What does it take to fulfil dreams—money or willpower?

This question can spark endless discussions. When the unforeseen adversary, COVID-19, disrupted our lives, the world came to a halt. As we gradually return to normalcy, one must ask—has everyone truly overcome this battle?

Many schools, especially unpaid institutions, closed during the pandemic and never reopened. This raised a troubling question: what happens to the children who once dreamt of becoming doctors, engineers, or nurses? Deprived of both financial resources and educational institutions, who will nurture their aspirations? Along with school lessons, life itself posed complex equations for them. It was during this time that Onko Ki Kothin was born.

Experience - Creating Onko Ki Kothin was a remarkable journey, particularly because the children in the film were non-actors. A long and immersive workshop transformed them into Babin, Tyre, and Dolly. Our pre-production phase was extensive, surpassing the time spent on actual filming. We meticulously worked on the production design, paying special attention to colour schemes in costumes, sets, and grading to enhance realism.

I firmly believe that cinema should bear social responsibility. Through this film, I hope to emphasize the importance of education for every child. Every child deserves the right to learn, grow, and pursue their dreams.
