Light and Shade from Francis Montesinos

This biopic is the only one really made with an intimate perspective about the unknown human person who is behind the Francis Montesinos label.

The international awarded fashion designer, who dressed as same time VIP personallities, Almodovar films, fashion lintern models, ballet dance companies from all over the world , as well as disco dancers or even dress and design some Kiss performance, then later in the short distances is a very shy man who loves the most simple things from his loved Valencia. His controversial way to live, his sexual condition and his transgresor character are cause of the strong press polemics.

Malu Zamora, journalist and reporter, started to manage this work as a very special documentary. But so special and so fascinating that finally it becomed in two long years of very stretch work with Francis. Not in vane, she decided to understand and show up the light an shade of the person he really is with an intimist overview of him, not as designer, but just as human being.

All the production works were asumed and worked out just by her, with no help from institutions neither investors, becoming in a hard challenge for her.

In this context, the best solution she could find to tell the past history, with no possibility of rescue old documents, was to fictionate the childhood and young moments of the artist. So, a short professional cast acceded to help Malu to make this film. At the fiction we can meet with Carmen Mayordomo, Rosana Pastor… but also at the documentary interviews we can find testimonial appears of Nacho Duato, Lucía Dominguín Bosé...

So then we are atendeeing to the opera prima of a novel director and filmaker, into an epic production which needs from the enough encouragement from Malu, the assistance of an unknoun Francis Montesinos and the cooperation of a crew cast who bet to this project with the best from themselves. More than just a simple documentary, a real experimental film.
