Tamal Dasgupta, an Indian Film-Maker, Film Researcher as well as Film Scholar reside at Kolkata, the cultural Capital of India. His first encounter with that of Cinema was ‘Pather-Panchali’ a masterwork of Satyajit Ray. Tamal saw this Film when he was only eleven and was captivated by the cinematic magic of Ray who became a mentor of his way of thinking about Cinema later on. Tamal joined the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune for studying Art of Cinema. He did his research work on ‘Screenplay of Satyajit Ray: The Art of Adaptation’ from Jadavpur University.He started his career in the arena of Cinema as a Documentary Filmmaker. Tamal has made 16 International Acclaimed Documentaries, like ‘Those Coffee House Days’, ‘Story of Pather Panchali', ‘Antpur Temple : A Poetry in Terracotta’ , ‘Bhimbetka: The Glimpses of Indian Rock Art’, ‘Soul of the Forest’ were screened at several International Film Festival.
