Synopsis

"Breaking the Spirit" is a short film set in India, focusing on the plight of ‘Marwari’ horses used in weddings and other ceremonies. These horses endure gruelling processions, often for hours, subjected to loud music, chaos, and harsh conditions. The film reveals how horses are treated as commodities, driven by money, with little regard for their well-being. Through this mistreatment, their "spirit" is systematically broken, forcing them into submission. As these horses are pushed beyond their limits, they are treated like they are easily disposable. And the film serves as a powerful commentary on the cruelty inherent in this industry.
