Edited: A Man Who Edits Himself – The Inspiring Story of Narayanan
Edited: A Man Who Edits Himself is a documentary that tells the extraordinary life story of Narayanan, a talented film editor from Payyannur, Kerala. Once an integral part of the Malayalam film industry, Narayanan worked as an Assistant Film Editor on several iconic hits such as Aye Auto, Vaishali, Vandanam, Ponthan Mada, and Kilukkam, and later edited the critically acclaimed Thaniye.
At the peak of his career, Narayanan made a life-changing decision to leave the glamorous world of cinema to care for his autistic son. Today, he leads a humble life as an auto driver in his hometown. His story, filled with love, sacrifice, and resilience, is as cinematic as any film he once worked on.
Produced by Muralidharan AK, Editor, Asianet News Digital, the documentary was born out of a journalist’s desire to tell a story of quiet heroism. The biggest challenge, the filmmaker recalls, was convincing Narayanan to participate and filming without disturbing the natural life of his son. The team was determined not to portray tragedy, but triumph to show Narayanan as a man who found success on his own terms.
The movie directed by Honey R K, with cinematography by Milton P. T., editing and sound design by Shafeekhan, graphics by Pramod K. T., associate camera by Ashin Prasad, and subtitles by Sony R. K., beautifully captures the essence of an ordinary man with an extraordinary heart.
Edited: A Man Who Edits Himself is not just for cinephiles or parents — it’s a universal story of courage, sacrifice, and hope. Though it may move viewers to tears, it ultimately inspires them to face life with renewed strength. The team now eagerly awaits the audience’s response.
