Pi, piupi y ricardo directed by Nicole Bernal Villalón

Pi, Piupi & Ricardo is a fiction short film that marks the directorial debut of Chilean screenwriter Nicole Bernal Villalón.

The film premiered in Chile in November 2025 at the Rengo International Film Festival, where it received the Best Production Design Award for Antonieta Henríquez, who also served as the film's producer.

Following its premiere, the film was screened at SANFICI in Colombia, Témpano Fest in Argentina, and CINELEBU in Chile. It has also been officially selected for the upcoming editions of the 15th Kolkata Shorts International Film Festival in India and Luces Cameros Acción in Spain, to be held in July and August, respectively.

Starring the young actress Hladini Rojas alongside the highly acclaimed actress Naldy Hernández, the short tells the story of a granddaughter and her grandmother who, by learning to trust one another, come to understand that they share an important common goal. Together, they realize they may be able to solve something that neither of them could ever have accomplished alone.

The film was shot in the most rural areas of Chile's Valparaíso Region by a small crew that included cinematographer Sebastián Humeres, production sound mixer Macarena Maldonado, sound designer Diego Merino, original score composer Javier Rivera, sound post-production by 3+1 Producciones, and casting director Mariabelen Bernal.

Part of this same team is currently in post-production on a second fiction short written and directed by Bernal Villalón, titled Cannet 23, which they hope will receive the same warm reception that Pi, Piupi and Ricardo has enjoyed so far.
