Baby — when wanting one changes everything.

It opens like any anniversary breakfast — a couple, a backyard, a little bickering over cigarettes and cold food. Nothing about it looks unusual. That's the point.

Selected for this year's Indian Cine Film Fest, this 6.5-minute short doesn't explain itself. It lets small inconsistencies accumulate — a tenderness that curdles, a fight that isn't really about what it claims to be — until the audience realizes they've been watching something far darker than they thought. By the final frame, what looked like an ordinary couple has revealed itself as something closer to obsession: two people responding to the same grief in wildly different, increasingly unsettling ways.

Woven quietly through the film are threads of infertility, the exploitable corners of online marketplaces, and a simple, uncomfortable idea — that the most normal-looking relationships can be built over the deepest fault lines.

Shot in an intimate location in the U.S. with three actors and one DOP, the film keeps its world small and its focus tight — every prop and every line earning its place.

In under seven minutes, it asks audiences to look twice at something that seemed entirely familiar.
