Mod directed by Amit Baidya, India
A Personal Note from Director Amit Baidya & Producer Actor Richa Pallod.
MOD / TURN began with a conversation between the two of us. We’ve been friends for a few years, but for the first time we thought, “Let’s create something together.” One idea led to another, one jam session turned into many, and slowly a tiny spark a “what if,” a simple question began to take shape:
How can one small decision, one unexpected turn, change everything?
From that moment grew a film that is intimate, atmospheric, and quietly unsettling.
We set our story on a rain-drenched highway, inside a lonely, deserted tea shop where three strangers seek shelter. What begins like a straightforward thriller slowly twists into something far more internal about the detours we take to avoid ourselves, and the moments that force us to confront what we fear most.
OUR JOURNEY
As director, Amit approached the film with a desire to explore silence, stillness, and psychological tension. As producer and actor, Richa brought conviction, clarity, and emotional depth to every stage of the process. What began as a small idea between us soon became a passion project that our entire team embraced wholeheartedly.
Like most short films, the journey wasn’t easy. We navigated limited budgets, tight timelines, and unpredictable weather. Shooting a rain-heavy narrative in a single night came with its own set of challenges.
Our writing process was built on hours of jamming sessions, disagreements, laughter, and countless rewrites. Amit eventually shaped the final screenplay, with Richa’s instinctive feedback guiding the emotional layers.
The performances by Richa Pallod, Santosh Singh, and Brijesh Karanwal form the backbone of the film. Our crew from our DOP Ankit Trivedi, to Executive Producer Fenil Khakkar, to our assistants Mini Choudhary and Divyanshu Dobriyal and production designer - Komalcarried this film with trust, commitment, and belief.
