Especias is a fantastic short film set in the streets of the fictional country of Muskaan, where two police officers chase a young thief. What begins as a tense pursuit soon transforms into an unexpected encounter, revealing the strength of compassion and human connection. Directed and written by Cairo Corrêa, a Brazilian filmmaker trained at ECIB (Barcelona), Especias reflects his minimalist and introspective style. Shot in 2024, the film was completed in just two days, with scenes filmed in the streets of El Born, Barcelona, and within the school’s studios. The fusion of 35mm film and digital footage creates a hybrid, dreamlike texture that enhances the story’s sense of enchantment.

The cinematography is by José Luis Venta, a Dominican director of photography based in Barcelona, with experience in international productions. The multicultural cast — featuring actors from Brazil, Spain, and India — brings the world of Especias to life with sensitivity and vibrancy.
