The film details the life of a married couple over the course of a night as they enter into an argument over a missed flight. The argument quickly makes way for realisations about their respective families and childhood traumas that are now dictating how they behave within the marriage and how inadvertently its impacting their son. What begins as an ugly argument about flaws quickly evolves into a nuanced meditation on what it means to love as a partner and a parent. The film’s thesis is that despite our numerous shortcomings as humans love usually can make up for it. Love makes us more empathetic and kind which are more than sufficient to make the journey to connect with other people even if we believe we are incapable of doing so. Towards the end of the film, the couple agree to make up for each other’s shortcomings and they recreate a time from back when they fell in love. The husband says, “I love you, Madhu” and this was enough back when they were dating in college. But after almost a decade of being together, she knows that love is only a place to start with but the real work begins after the fact. The movie ends with her playfully asking, “Enough to change?”
