Swathi Shetty came to fiction the long way around. She trained at the Digital Academy in Mumbai between 2012 and 2014, then worked as a writer and assistant director with Gaurang Doshi Productions and alongside director Siddharth Sinha on short films. She went on to found Studio Interpolation, producing music videos, podcasts and cross-generational work like Kids and Jam Around the Block, and Karmanye Studios, built to make Kannada films on subjects the industry tends to skip. Through all of it, one instinct held: a pull toward the people a camera usually walks past.

The Corner House grew out of something she lives with directly through her eldercare work in Bangalore. The film looks at the rise of Alzheimer's and other mental ailments among the city's elderly, and at the quiet, ordinary cruelty of being forgotten by your own family in a fast-moving city. There's no villain in it. Only busy lives, thinning patience, and a parent left at the edge of the frame.

The making was its own kind of sprint. The story was written on 24 April 2026. Cast and crew were locked the next day. The team shot for two non-stop days, on 26 and 27 April, and the editor delivered the cut by 30 April so the film could meet festival deadlines in Bangalore. A near-impossible schedule, pulled off by a small and fiercely committed group.

On screen: Disha Madan, Rekha Kudligi, Madhu Hegde and Harish Seshadri. Behind it: Abhishekh Saravanan on camera, editor Kevin , Vriksh and Imaiyan on music and sound design, and producers Aditya Gunavante, Swathi Shetty and Abhishek Shetty, with Ashish Paul George as executive producer.
